  • Overview

    The Director of Global Sourcing is accountable for leading global strategy development and deployment to manufacture / source and commercialize innovative and best-in-class products inclusive of raw materials, packaging materials, and contract manufactured finished goods (food and non-food items). This position will closely collaborate with cross-functional leadership within the Supply Chain (Manufacturing /Engineering, Planning, and Distribution / Logistics) to ensure business unit goals are met, as well as with peers in other business units (Product Development and Field Services) to ensure alignment with Medifast core business objectives. This individual will manage an organization consisting of levels ranging from temps to Sr Managers and will interact with level up to and including C level. Currently, all heads are located domestically, but long term, may include global offices


    • Develops, executes, and communicates a comprehensive strategic and operational global sourcing strategy for Medifast / Optavia branded products in support of immediate, short, and long term financial and operational goals - innovative and high quality product, service, margin, continuity of supply, and expansion (international and domestic).
    • Creates a high performing supply base by developing existing partners or cultivating new partnerships. Drives operational excellence initiatives throughout supply base from identification / qualification through product delivery.
    • Supports product commercialization on time, at approved financial targets, and at approved quality and product specifications. Ensures calendar alignment with internal and external partners, allocates product in accordance with partner capacities and capabilities, and ensures all relevant commercialization milestones met
    • Develops and leads a high-performing global sourcing team. Continuously reevaluate the team and align the team/process to best service the business. Cultivates a data driven and process oriented culture.
    • Contributes to positive margin growth by identifying productivity and value engineering opportunities, leveraging knowledge of commodity landscape and manufacturing processes to ensure transparent costing and regionally balanced supply matrix.
    • Communicates effectively across all levels of the organization regarding strategy, risks, and opportunities. Identifies and proposes solutions for mitigating risk or improving product and/or process.


    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum 15 years of experience leading a global sourcing organization with related experience in multiple disciplines of operations such as manufacturing, planning, logistics, engineering, product development, or quality.
    • Experience preferred in any of the following related industries: food and beverage, direct selling consumer goods
    • Excellent organization, project management, oral and written communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point. Experience creating, presenting, and executing strategic business plans and operations updates.
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects. Proven track record with regards to complex, multiphase project execution
    • Strong financial literacy with experience overseeing a P&L
    • Knowledge of: ERP / MRP systems, global trade terms and compliance
