  • Overview


    The Inventory Planner’s primary focus is on maintaining and managing inventory supply using statistical analysis, system tools, and communication with internal partners. This position is responsible for measuring vendor performance, determining priorities, understanding capacity, and arranging production to meet the company’s supply needs. The Planner will develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products and product discontinuations, and will be responsible for continuously improving processes and systems to meet inventory and service-level goals.



    • Execute short, medium and long term product level supply plans to ensure the corporate service level and inventory targets are achieved.
    • Manage timely forecast to PO processes, rolling vendor forecasts, PO prioritization and on-time delivery. Monitor and plan safety stock to optimize service while minimizing inventory obsolescence.
    • Gather, analyze and validate sales, receipt and inventory movement data. Apply error analysis techniques to improve planning. Summarize/aggregate product supply plans.
    • Facilitate a collaborative cross-functional planning review with Medifast Marketing and functional departments within Supply Chain and Finance to obtain relevant data insights and achieve consensus for operational supply plans, including new product launches and discontinuations.
    • Identify long-term and short-term critical supply constraints; communicate service risks and maintain strong coordination cross-functionally to minimize disruption to clients.
    • Maintain supply planning system and software. Clean and validate planning and procurement master data parameters, verify that all material and BOMs are accurate to facilitate planning, procurement, and on time execution for new launches.
    • Review and action expiring materials, capacity analysis of critical suppliers, supply management and performance reporting for critical suppliers. Participate in routine scorecard reviews with suppliers and recommend methods of transportation on critical shipments.
    • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to inventory planning process


    • Position requires a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or a related field and 3-5 years of Supply Chain planning experience. 
    • Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing, project management techniques, and supply chain processes highly valued; APICS certification a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation skills to effectively interact with all teams and all areas and levels of business affecting inventory planning.
    • Self-starter with the ability to see a project through from design to delivery.
    • Strong analytical, organizational and decision making skills with keen attention to detail required. Must be capable of defining, analyzing and resolving complicated problems.
    • A demonstrated desire to work independently, while exhibiting a high degree of flexibility, self-motivation, and accountability.
