  • Overview

    The Digital Communications Specialist role primarily manages email communication to our audience of Coaches and Clients on a regular basis from concept to execution, using the Salesforce Marketing Cloud – Exact Target. This position is also responsible for text message communication, HTML, management of our content library, and recognizing the achievements of our Coaches online. 

     

    This position requires proficiency in multiple software programs, precise attention to detail, and extreme detail to processes. The Digital Communications Specialist will facilitate workflow of projects, moving multiple pieces seamlessly from inception to completion with the ability to effectively partner with various departments including Events, Recognition, Customer Support, and Compliance.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees the planning, development, production, and delivery of email communications to our audience of Coaches and Clients by partnering with the OPTAVIA Marketing Team and various departments involved with the communication, and assists with day-to-day editing and proofreading of content for all OPTAVIA communications and marketing materials (52%). 
    • Upload lists and create customized data extensions to manage email subscribers and lists (10%). 
    • Manages the content including Social Graphics, e-Cards, Newsletters, and more in our OPTAVIA Content Library, as well as manages the relationship and look to expand our capabilities with that software vendor (10%)
    • Manages the online recognition of OPTAVIA Coaches through a third-party software similar to Wordpress and using HTML. Recognition also includes using Photoshop to crop and export photos from Photoshop (15%).
    • Understands, follows, and supports internal/external processes and procedures in areas such as communications, procurement, and creative development. (5%). 
    • Manages the text message alerts that go out on a weekly basis to our audience of Coaches and Clients, as well as manage the relationship with that vendor while exploring alternative options to text message communication (5%). 
    • Schedules, tracks and updates weekly team meetings, project plan and matrices with all appropriate departments calendar (2%). 
    • Participates in local meetings and/or travel to all events, as required (1%). 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Business, Communications or Marketing preferred OR related work experience. 
    • 3+ years’ experience in Marketing, Communications, or Events-related field. 
    • Knowledge of traditional marketing disciplines and communication styles, plus new trends such as social media, digital, and event marketing.
    • Computer skills/programs in Salesforce Marketing Cloud – Exact Target, HTML, Microsoft Office: Excel & Word), survey software, text messaging software. 
    • Attention to detail and ability to proactively provide solutions. 
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
    • Able to process large quantities of information and translate to appropriate audiences
    • Excellent reading comprehension and editorial skills
    • Must be able to interact with all levels, both internally and externally, proving excellent customer service and the ability to establish partnerships. 
    • Must be process-driven. 
    • Knowledge of Direct Sales industry a plus.
