  • Overview

    Vice President of Technology provides executive-level guidance in planning, evaluating, and implementing tactical and long-term IT initiatives to support strategic business plans and cross-functional business solutions. Leading and managing a flexible and adaptable high-performance organization, the Vice President of Technology is responsible for evaluating current and emerging technology, driving the execution of information technology initiatives and managing IT operations to deliver effective and efficient services.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides high level technical expertise in a range of technologies. Accountable fro overall direction of large, complex solution planning, which may contain significant scope, ambiguity, risk and geographical diversity.
    • Responsible for integrity of integrated solution planning as a key component of solution architecture deliverables in accordance with the approved enterprise architecture. 
    • Optimizes information management approaches based on evolving business needs and technology capabilities.
    • Responsible for the execution and management of technology investments and operations.
    • Develops new approaches and processes, which contribute to business growth/efficiency across the enterprise.
    • Collaborates with key stakeholders in the development and execution of strategic and tactical plans.
    • Responsible for the successful delivery of IT strategies, services and operations which enable the enterprise to achieve defined goals and objectives.
    • Aligns IT strategy and planning with business goals.
    • Assists with defining and implementing enterprise technology strategy and solution architectures.
    • Assists with the identification, evaluation, selection and implementation of new technology.
    • Implements industry best practice across all information technologies disciplines.
    • Develops and manages budgets for information technology initiatives and operations.
    • Reviews and prioritizes infrastructure and operations needs and implement changes to standards as necessary.
    • Develops, documents, and reviews goals and metrics for all IT operations and personnel.
    • Oversees the technical and managerial skill development of IT staff.
    • Establishes, promotes, and fosters project management methodology standards within the organization.
    • Oversees contingency planning and IT security and compliance, establishing and maintaining controls and processes.
    • Manages the risks associated with information and IT assets through appropriate standards and security policies.
    • Manages the review and negotiation of major IT vendor agreements.
    • Guides selection and evaluation of comprehensive solutions to meet business and technical needs.
    • Develops policies, standards and guidelines that guide the selection, development, implementation and use of information technology within the enterprise.
    • Analyzes, defines and estimates high level hardware, software and application strategies and solutions.
    • Promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing within IT organization.
    • Promotes shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows, ensuring that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other, or business and IT strategies.
    • Works with the business and IT teams to clearly define the functional and technical requirements of work that will be deployed.
    • Reviews designs and specifications (functional and technical) for quality and technical content.
    • Oversees application and infrastructure efforts from design through implementation, ensuring that the leading practices/standards are documented, communicated and implemented.
    • Works collaboratively to ensure technology initiatives are on schedule, on budget and meet other expectations are defined by the CIO.
    • Assists in the management and resolutions of design and solution issues, ensuring that issues are escalated to the appropriate levels in a timely manner and collaboratively resolved.
    • Provides effective leadership, direction and coaching to direct and indirect reports including, but not limited to, delegating, staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
    • 15+ years of increasing technical and managerial experience.
    • 7-10 years of infrastructure and operations architecture experience, including network and security.
    • 5-7 years of systems architecture and/or application architecture experience.
    • 5-7 years designing and implementing technology architectures, infrastructure, operations and processes.
    • 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing mid to large-scale information technology projects, including complex cross-functional projects.
    • 3-5 years implementing information security best practices including PCI and PII preferred.
    • 5-7 years of Direct Selling experience preferred.
    • ITIL Certification preferred.
    • Comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies, trends, methodologies, and resource management principles. 
    • Wide range of technical understanding and hands-on experience across IT disciplines and multiple industries, including technology vendor services, applications, servers, operating systems, mobile devices, networking, cloud-computing, and databases, significantly influencing the technologies employed.
    • Substantial managerial experience in formulating, planning, leading, directing and controlling complex, broad, and highly technical functions.
    • Demonstrated ability to create and implement technology empowered business strategy.
    • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute deadline driven projects with strong bias for action and ability to prioritize multiple and competing projects.
    • Experience with all aspects of system implementation including gathering business requirements, analysing and defining functional and technical requirements, gap analysis, designing the future state solution, systems integration, QA testing, post implementation support and operations transition.
    • Experience with designing and implementing new integration architecture, including legacy systems.
    • Ability to articulate and present different points-of-views on various technologies to technical and non-technical audiences across the enterprise.
    • Experience leading a complex technology staff and external resource management and planning.
    • Experience implementing cloud-based services, architecture, infrastructure and applications.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
