The Director, Data Governance is responsible for the overall performance of the data governance organization across functional and international boundaries. This position will work with Data Stewards and Business Users across the company both domestically and international.
Drives day-to-day operation of the data governance organization, as well as the evolution of the data governance processes.
Custodian for all data governance policies, procedures and processes, from definition through execution, as well as continuous improvement. Processes must be scalable and sustainable.
Coordinates the change management and communication activities within the data organization.
Works closely with and coordinates efforts with Medifast’s Data and Analytics team to identify and cleanse problematic data and Enterprise Data Management team to implement a scalable enterprise data architecture with the appropriate controls in place.
Orchestrates Data Governance policies across all business functions and across all data object domains (e.g., Customer, Product, Vendor, etc.), while working with senior leadership, IT data leadership, data owners and business data stewards to ensure data management initiatives and sustaining processes are aligned with the strategy business objectives of Medifast.
Manages the representation of the data governance organization constituents, ensuring they are provisioned the appropriate rights and that their data needs are meaningfully escalated and represented.
10+ years of experience in data management and governance, including leading and managing data governance organizations.
5+ years of experience in a management role.
Experience producing status reports and other executive communications.
Excellent communication skills, including with senior leadership, executive sponsors, and global data owners.
Strong grasp of Master Data Management concepts including, but not limited to, duplicating handling, data quality, and data cleansing, including an understanding of the fundamentals of data bases and data structures (tables, hierarchical structures, flat files, etc.)
Consumer Packaged Good, Direct Selling or Retail industry experience preferred.
Strong understanding of how data supports business processes, specifically the Financial Planning & Analysis, Marketing and Order to Cash processes.
Experience in documenting and implementing policies around data quality and data privacy and security, especially for international markets.
Track record of leading through complex problem solving and collaborating with various functional and business teams.
Strong understanding of data definitions and standards around the Customer and Product data models.
