Responsibilities

  • Weighing up & prepare PD lab batches for new development, and trouble-shooting production batch challenges.
  • Obtain samples from warehouse for PD lab.
  • Prepare samples for home use testing of new products requiring cooking (bakery mixes, etc.).
  • Help Conduct Sensory Panels for internal evaluation
  • Capture and provide analysis of data results (Excel).
  • Maintain ingredient/finished product documentation database including calling vendors, electronic and hard copy filing, inputting data into spreadsheets as required.
  • Assist with Production Trials, scale-ups, process improvement tests.
  • Assist in preparing samples for evaluating alternate supplier ingredients and finished products.
  • General Lab: Assist in Product Development lab organization and clean-up.

Qualifications

  • Scientific curriculum, preferably Food Science, or Nutrition.
  • Third or fourth year undergraduate student or graduate student.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up
  • Strong interest in food Research & Development
  • Ability to work effectively independently, and as a member of a team.
  • Problem solving and excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple task
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, physics, statistics with additional course-work in nutrition or food science a plus.
