The Copywriter is primarily responsible for the creation and development of copy to be used across OPTAVIATM media, communications, tools, and marketing materials.  This role will require in-depth understanding of both the unique nature of the OPTAVIATM brand, business and the special groups receiving communications, including Field Leadership, Field of OPTAVIA Coaches, Clients, and Candidates. All copy should ultimately reflect the distinct OPTAVIATM culture and convey this culture in tone, language, and overall message. 



  • Writes and edits copy for internal and external facing media and marketing materials.
  • Interviews OPTAVIATM Coaches and Clients to create success stories and testimonials.
  • Researches and reports on health topics and create articles for multiple online and print platforms.
  • Writes copy for marketing materials, social media, and website content as needed.
  • Assists with day-to-day editing and proofreading of content for all OPTAVIATM communications and marketing materials.
  • Reviews and edits materials, ensuring that the proper language, message, and tone is conveyed per audience.
  • Ensures copy is in compliance with all company policies and requirements.
  • Assists with internal communications projects such as employee training materials and scripts for in-house Coach and Client Success Teams.
  • Serves as backup for the Communication Specialist and Communication Manager.



  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Marketing Communication, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in writing and editing in a professional environment.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated writing ability in various genres – promotional, informational, technical, and motivational.
  • Able to process large quantities of information and translate to appropriate audiences.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and editorial skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Customer service experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work within a high performing team with direction from multiple team members
  • Strong organization skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage projects and work within tight project deadlines; prioritizing multiple projects and tasks to meet those deadlines with a positive attitude and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of English language/grammar, AP style and Chicago style.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
